Under The Skin follows Shen Yi, a gifted artist whose life spirals after a commission ties him to a police case that goes wrong. The incident reshapes his path, leaving scars and questions. Fast forward seven years, and Shen Yi has reinvented himself as a member of the Criminal Investigation Unit, using his portrait skills to read people and clues. He partners with Captain Du Cheng, a steady, no-nonsense investigator who values precision over bravado. The unlikely duo must balance artistic intuition with forensic grit as they peel back layers of a case that has a personal sting for both of them. The show crafts its mood through quiet tension, sharp dialogue, and a noir-tinged atmosphere.
