An infant princess Elora Danan becomes the target of the evil sorceress Bavmorda. A timid farmer named Willow discovers the baby and, despite his own doubts, is entrusted with keeping her safe and guiding her toward a future free of tyranny. He is pulled into a perilous odyssey across a land thick with magic, marauders, and strange creatures. Along the way, he teams up with a swaggering swordsman Madmartigan and a wry ally Raziel the sorceress, plus a band of misfits who share the quest. They dodge traps, rally uneasy allies, and face dark magic as they carry the child who could end Bavmorda’s reign. The tone blends danger with humor, creating a sense of wonder that appeals to families.

Directed by Ron Howard, Willow comes from an original screenplay by Bob Dolman with story credit to George Lucas. Produced by Lucasfilm, the fantasy adventure opened in 1988 and showcased a collaboration between seasoned effects wizards and a rising director.

It earned about $57.3 million worldwide on a $35 million budget, reflecting solid performance for a high fantasy spectacle of its era and cementing Lucasfilm's commitment to large scale fantasy. The production used extensive practical effects and model work globally.
