Set during a turbulent war period, Wounded Love follows Azize as she struggles to keep her family intact while her husband is away. With three children and a mother-in-law relying on her, Azize must manage food, shelter and schooling while guarding the emotional life of her household. Secondary figures such as Cevdet, Tevfik and Charles Hamilton complicate loyalties and introduce political pressure that reaches the home. Azize's devotion to her absent spouse underpins many choices, and relationships with neighbors, occupiers and local officials shift as power changes. Love, greed, treason and sacrifice thread through the story, and danger often arrives in unexpected forms, pushing people to make impossible choices.
