Antichrist

After a devastating loss, a married couple retreats to a remote forest cabin they call Eden in hopes of healing their broken hearts and strained marriage. Surrounded by pines and the weather's harsh mood, they confront grief, silence, and the difficulty of reconnecting. The man and woman, identified only as He and She, try to care for each other while the world outside seems to intrude inside the walls. As days pass, fear and longing mingle with anger, and the couple's conversations grow tense, exposing mistaken assurances and unspoken guilt. The forest acts as a stern observer, reflecting pain and testing the limits of trust between them. The weather turns harsher, snow falls, and silence becomes a weapon in the long nights.

Directed by Lars von Trier, Antichrist released in 2009 as an original screenplay co written with Anders Thomas Jensen. It premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, stars Willem Dafoe and Charlotte Gainsbourg, and was produced by Zentropa with international distribution.
