Stela is twelve and trusts only what she can see, or nothing at all. Her younger brother Miguel believes in everything, especially in what cannot be proven. Two years after a tragic diving accident claimed their mother, the siblings return to Paraty, a mythical city where things are never as they seem. In this place the familiar streets shimmer with secrets and memory, and legends hover just beyond the edge of sight. Strange clues turn up in quiet corners, and a local guide hints at guardians who watch the water and the boats. As old memories resurface, their different worldviews collide and pull them toward a mystery that hints at a larger truth. The story tests their bond and asks whether belief and doubt can coexist.
