About Fallen
Luce wakes up at Sword & Cross, a rehabilitation facility that treats its residents like patients in a cult, with no memory of the crime that landed her there. As she tries to piece together what happened, she encounters Daniel, a quietly magnetic fellow patient, and Cam, whose charm is infuriating but hard to resist. The institution is run by the unnerving Dr. Howson and populated by devout twins Miriam and Sophia, among others. Over time Luce starts to pull threads of her past into the present, sensing a bond with Daniel that predates the facility, and she has to sort truth from manipulation while the truth about her identity remains out of reach.
Fallen premiered in 2024, created by Lauren Kate and Claudia Bluemhuber, and is adapted from Lauren Kate's novel. The series stars Jessica Alexander as Luce, Gijs Blom as Daniel, Timothy Innes as Cam, Alexander Siddig as Dr. Howson, and Josefine Koenig as Arriane.
As of its 2024 release the show has not secured major industry awards or Emmy and Golden Globe nominations. It has, however, drawn attention within genre circles and among viewers who follow YA adaptations.
The series has prompted online conversation about how rehab and faith-based institutions are portrayed on screen, and it renewed interest in YA supernatural romance on streaming platforms. Fans have been vocal about character relationships, and early fan art and theories have circulated on social feeds and forums.
Critical and audience responses are mixed, the current user score resting at 6.5 out of 10 from 36 votes. Reviewers and viewers often praise the cast and the moody, claustrophobic atmosphere, while some point to uneven pacing and unanswered questions. Central themes include memory and identity, the tension between authority and autonomy, and intense emotional bonds that complicate trust and loyalty.
