Girls Band Cry

Nina Iseri drops out of high school and heads to Tokyo in search of something she can’t name. Standing outside a suburban station she hears Momoka Kawaragi sing with a power that makes her feel part of a bigger rhythm. Inspired, Nina decides to form a band with four others: Subaru Awa, who masks her true feelings; Tomo Ebizuka, a girl scarred by family trouble; and Rupa, a lonely friendless kid who doesn't quite fit in. The five of them start rehearsing, dreaming up gigs, and learning to express themselves through music, all while building a fragile found family that protects each other from the tough edges of growing up in the city.

Created by Jukki Hanada, this 2024 animated drama comedy presents an original concept about teen musicians finding belonging in Tokyo. The show centers on a diverse group, rehearsals, street gigs, and hopeful breakthroughs, all carried by lively animation.
