Set in 2067, eight years after Macross Frontier, Macross Delta follows Walküre, an idol singing unit, and Delta Squadron, a squad of Valkyrie pilots, as they confront the Var Syndrome, a strange condition that disrupts minds across the galaxy. The show cuts between live concert stages and aerial combat, showing how song is used as a tactical element alongside missiles and maneuvers. Politics and rival forces, including the enigmatic Aerial Knights of the Kingdom of Wind, complicate military objectives.
