About Missing

Jess Mastriani is a small-town woman who planned to take over her parents' restaurant, until a lightning strike changes everything. After the accident she begins seeing flash visions of people who have gone missing, images that point to where they might be found. Instead of hiding from the strange new ability, Jess starts using it to help locate missing people, first as a consultant and later as a full-time FBI agent. Training and procedure become part of her life, and her methodical approach sometimes clashes with the more relaxed attitude of her partner, as the team handles cases out of the bureau's Washington, D.C. office.

The series premiered in 2003, created by William Laurin, Glenn Davis and novelist Meg Cabot. It stars Caterina Scorsone as Jess Mastriani, with Vivica A. Fox and Mark Consuelos among the principal cast.

Critical reaction was mixed to favorable, reflected in a user vote average of 6.778/10 from 27 votes. Reviewers and viewers tended to praise the premise and lead performance while noting uneven plotting in some episodes. Major themes include responsibility that comes with sudden power, the tension between intuition and procedure, and the emotional cost of working on missing-person cases.

Missing blended procedural crime plots with a supernatural twist, which helped it stand out among early 2000s network dramas. It attracted a modest but loyal audience who appreciated the show's human focus and the sympathetic lead, and it contributed to Caterina Scorsone's visibility in television roles that followed.

The series did not collect major industry awards, but it earned attention for its central idea and for Scorsone's portrayal of a woman adapting to an extraordinary change while trying to keep a sense of normalcy.
