As a boy Diego Acuña was among thousands evacuated to the Soviet Union during the Spanish Civil War, raised under a strict communist education that shaped his politics and skills. Years later he works as an operative across France and Italy under party official Germán Goeritz, carrying out assignments that test his loyalties. When he's given a mission that puts his own family in the crosshairs, Diego returns to Spain under a false pretense, posing as someone disillusioned with Soviet doctrine. The film follows his uneasy attempts to fit back into a society he left behind while secrecy, duty, and personal ties create growing tension around his true purpose.

Released in 1954, the film was directed by Rafael Gil and scripted by Vicente Escrivá, Ramón D. Faraldo and José Antonio Giménez-Arnau, with Rafael Rivelles, Francisco Rabal and Lyla Rocco leading the cast.
