About PreCure Splash Star
Five years after a strange encounter beneath a summer tree, two girls reconnect with a mystery that started on the same night. Saki Hyuuga, a driven softball pitcher, and Mai Mishou, a quiet sketcher who likes stargazing, once saw two glowing spheres that linked their fates. Now small spirits named Flappy and Choppy choose them to restore the Seven Fountains and stop Dark Autumn, a seasonal menace threatening multiple worlds. They transform into the new Pretty Cure, balancing school, friendships, and battle training while discovering how their powers complement each other. Episodes mix humor, action, and slice of life moments without revealing major twists.
First broadcast in 2006, PreCure Splash Star was produced by Toei Animation as part of the ongoing Pretty Cure series. The main voice cast includes Orie Kimoto, Atsuko Enomoto, Kappei Yamaguchi, Miyu Matsuki, and Isshin Chiba, and it aired in Japan.
Although Splash Star didn't win major industry prizes, it earned steady appreciation among viewers and collectors, and it rarely appears on mainstream award lists. It helped solidify the franchise's TV presence and attracts continued fan discussion, appearing in retrospectives and polls as a distinctive, character-driven season.
With its summer setting and nature motifs, Splash Star encouraged later entries to try seasonal themes and varied transformation designs. Mascots Flappy and Choppy proved popular with children, and the series' imagery showed up in merchandise, school plays, and fan art, keeping its characters visible in Pretty Cure fandom today.
Audience scores are positive, a recent aggregate shows an 8.1/10 from 14 votes. Viewers praise the show's light comedy, action set pieces, and the chemistry between the two leads, while critics note its steady pacing and warm tone. Central themes include friendship, responsibility, teamwork, and the contrast between ordinary school life and magical duties, and its tone holds up.
