About The Collection
Arkin escapes a brutal capture during a wild trap filled party where a sadistic killer called The Collector toys with his prey. Elena, a luminous guest, is added to the killer's grim tally and becomes a live target in his sick game. Instead of healing after the incident, Arkin is seized in a hospital and forced by Elena's wealthy father to join a mercenary team. Their mission is to locate a warehouse rigged with deadly devices and stop The Collector before he hurts Elena again. The clock is the main antagonist as they press through corridors, mistrust grows within the group, and every door could hide another trap. With time running out, the plan hinges on courage and tense teamwork.
Directed by Marcus Dunstan, The Collection arrived in 2012 with an original screenplay by Dunstan and Patrick Melton. Built as a follow up to The Collector, it leans on high tension, slick set pieces, and a lean, practical effects approach.
Box office numbers show modest commercial performance, with a worldwide gross of $6,842,058. Released primarily to dedicated horror audiences, the film did solid business relative to its budget and genre expectations. Its release helped build a fan base over time.
Within horror circles The Collection is known for its relentless pacing and inventive trap design. While not a mainstream phenomenon, it has a loyal following among fans who value practical effects and a claustrophobic, high stakes atmosphere over glossy gore. Its fan base keeps discussions alive through online share groups.
Critics generally noted brisk pacing and solid technical craft, though many found the script thin at times. The film tugs at themes of coercion, power, and survival under pressure, emphasizing teamwork under duress and the cost of loyalty in a deadly cat and mouse scenario for horror aficionados everywhere today.
