Set during the chaotic transition between the Kamakura and Muromachi periods, The Elusive Samurai follows young lord Tokiyuki Hojo after his family is toppled by Ashikaga Takauji. Branded a fugitive, he survives with the help of a dubious priest and a small band of followers. Instead of relying on conventional battlefield prowess, Tokiyuki turns an odd advantage into his strength, a superhuman talent for fleeing and hiding. The episodes trace how he uses stealth, trickery and quick thinking to stay alive while he maneuvers through shifting power plays.
