About Assassination Classroom
A misfit group of students in Class 3-E are given a deadly assignment: eliminate their mysterious new teacher before graduation. Their teacher, a fast, multi-tentacled creature who once crippled the moon, says he will destroy Earth in a year unless he’s killed. Rather than a simple assassination exercise, the situation becomes a strange classroom experiment, where lessons, drills, and unexpected mentorship shape the pupils as much as weapons training. Humor and frantic action mix with quieter moments of growth, as students confront moral questions and learn skills that test both their aim and their character.
Released in 2015, the animated series was created by Shion Miyawaki, Yusei Matsui, and Shouko Fujibayashi. The show features the voices of Jun Fukuyama as Koro-sensei, Mai Fuchigami as Nagisa Shiota, Nobuhiko Okamoto as Karma Akabane, Aya Suzaki as Kaede Kayano, and Ayaka Suwa as Touka Yada.
The series didn’t dominate mainstream international awards, but it earned strong fan support and visibility within anime circles. Its cast and production drew attention in industry polls and helped raise the profiles of several voice actors, even if major global prizes were limited.
Assassination Classroom left a noticeable mark on pop culture thanks to its offbeat premise and memorable lead character. Koro-sensei’s vivid design and the classroom-versus-world setup turned into widely shared images, cosplay and merchandise. The story’s mix of slapstick and sincere teacher-student moments made it a frequent reference point in discussions about unconventional anime educators.
Critics and viewers praised the show’s balance of comedy, action, and emotional beats, reflected in an 8.399/10 average from 1,171 votes. Major themes include responsibility, personal growth, ethical complexity around violence, and the impact a single teacher can have. The tone switches quickly from absurd to serious, and that contrast is a core part of the series identity.
