Alto Goldfield is a grades-obsessed student who tries to shortcut his way to graduation by conjuring a little something from beyond the world of his classmates. The plan backfires when the deal binds Vermeil, a legendary she-devil, into service as his familiar. She is ancient, sharp tongued, and far stronger than she looks, and she refuses to treat Alto's failures as simply a run of bad luck. Suddenly their daily routine swirls with magic, mischief, and the mismatched pair stumbling through school life, magical duels, and strange errands. What starts as a prank turns into a messy partnership where the boundaries between human ambition and demon power blur, often to comic effect.
