A mutated virus has wiped out almost all men, and Reito Mizuhara reawakens after five years in cryosleep to a society rebuilt around reproduction. He learns that a tiny handful of males are being kept in luxury and encouraged to sire a new generation, while the rest of the world copes with loss, fear, and changing power structures. Reito's personal goal is simple and stubborn, he wants to track down Erisa, the woman he loved who vanished years earlier. As he moves through a world obsessed with fertility, he faces tempting offers, moral pressure, and a mystery about what happened to the people he cared about, all without revealing major plot twists.
