Kai is a restless young falcon whose skies feel too small for his bright energy. He heads to Zambezia, a crowded bird metropolis by the edge of Victoria Falls, drawn by stories of a place where every beak fits in. In this bustling city he makes friends, learns the lay of the land and begins to question where he truly belongs. Rather than simply finding a family, he uncovers hints about his past and the truth behind his place in the flock. When trouble threatens the city, Kai discovers how to stand up for others and earn his place within a community.

Zambezia arrived in 2012 directed by Wayne Thornley and built on an original story by Andrew Cook, Wayne Thornley and Raffaella Delle Donne. The animation came from Triggerfish with a budget around 20 million.

Critics gave it mixed notes, while audiences responded to the fast paced humor and bright visuals. The film explores belonging and identity, showing how courage and teamwork help a newcomer fit into a community.
