About Dumped

Freshly dumped by her husband who left for a younger woman, Françoise faces a 60th birthday with a cloud over her head. To lift her spirits, her two daughters Rose and Alice whisk their mother away to a sunny resort on Reunion, hoping the sea air and a few margaritas will do them all good. The trip is meant to be simple and restorative a chance to swap heartbreak for laughter and light. But Rose has a plan of her own she hires Thierry a charming one night companion to show their mother a good time. What follows is a series of comic misfires as the family confronts old tensions and new temptations. The mood stays warm and playful through most of the vacation.

Released in 2018, Dumped is directed by Eloïse Lang from an original screenplay by Mette Heeno. The French comedy spotlights Miou-Miou, Camille Cottin, Camille Chamoux, Johan Heldenbergh and Olivia Côte in a sun soaked ensemble.

Box office data for Dumped is not publicly disclosed and the film did not report a widely cited worldwide gross, suggesting a modest release that resonated more with festival audiences and French cinema fans than with blockbuster markets globally today.

The movie has a light cultural footprint mostly tied to its reliable French cast and breezy tropical setting. It invites viewers to see aging not as a problem but as a source of renewed humor and connection. Its colorful Reunion locale provides a cheerful backdrop for dialogue and mishaps throughout.

Critics generally welcomed the film for its easygoing tempo and strong ensemble work highlighting themes of midlife reinvention, sisterly solidarity, and family memory. The humor leans toward observant character comedy rather than punchlines, making Dumped feel approachable to audiences who enjoy warmth without heavy moralizing, which appeals to mature viewers.
