Invader ZIM

Zim is an overambitious but incompetent alien who wants nothing more than to prove he can conquer a planet. His leaders, fed up with his failures, send him to Earth with jury-rigged equipment and the expectation that he will fail far away from home. Zim nevertheless disguises himself as a human child and secretly builds a base while he studies human habits and hatches schemes to subjugate the world. Only one kid, the paranormal-obsessed Dib, sees through the disguise and tries to expose Zim, but adults shrug off Dib's warnings and life in the neighborhood continues, equal parts absurd and dangerous.

Created by Jhonen Vasquez, Invader ZIM premiered on Nickelodeon in 2001. The show features Richard Steven Horvitz as Zim, Andy Berman as Dib, Rosearik Rikki Simons as GIR, Melissa Fahn as Gaz, and Lucille Bliss as Ms. Bitters.

Critics and fans tend to praise the series for its dark humor, stark visual design, and willingness to push boundaries in kids animation.
