About Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous
A group of six teens signed up for an adventure-style summer camp on the far side of Isla Nublar, expecting thrills and zip lines. Instead, the island goes dark when dinosaurs break loose, cutting off communications and transport. Stranded and outmatched by ancient predators, the campers have to pool their different skills, overcome rivalries, and improvise shelter, supplies and escape plans. The story moves between tense action and quieter moments where characters learn to trust one another, make hard choices about safety and loyalty, and grow up faster than they expected, all while the surrounding island remains unpredictably dangerous.
Created by Zack Stentz for Netflix and produced by DreamWorks Animation with ties to the Jurassic Park franchise, the series debuted in 2020. It features an ensemble voice cast including Jameela Jamil, Glen Powell, Kausar Mohammed, Sean Giambrone and Paul-Mikél Williams, and was released across multiple seasons.
The show hasn’t been a headline grabber at the big awards ceremonies, but it has drawn praise within animation communities and from parents for its voice performances and accessibility to younger viewers. Any formal accolades have been limited compared with big adult-focused animated series.
As an animated extension of the Jurassic universe, Camp Cretaceous played a part in expanding the franchise beyond live-action films, making the world feel larger and more continuous. It found a steady audience online, inspired fan art and discussions about character choices, and helped introduce franchise lore to a new generation without relying on familiar film stars.
Critics and viewers have generally liked the series, reflected in a solid 8.0/10 vote average. Reviews point to strong character dynamics, steady pacing and a mix of suspense, humor and heart. Recurring themes include teamwork, responsibility, and the consequences of tampering with nature, all presented in a way that balances thrills with lessons appropriate for family viewing.
