King of Thorn

Medusa, a mysterious virus, sweeps through Japan turning victims into statue-like husks. Since a quick cure seems out of reach, the government places a group of patients into cryopreservation so they can be revived later if a fix is found. Years later Kasumi, one of the frozen patients, begins to awaken into a world that is barely recognizable. The city is a ruined maze of broken streets and lurking shapes, a place where danger hides behind every corner. The sleepers must move through fear and shifting loyalties as the waking minds confront memories they thought they left behind. Trust frays, and alliances are tested.

Directed by Kazuyoshi Katayama, King of Thorn adapts Yuji Iwahara's manga into a cinematic fantasy sci fi experience.
