Winston Gooze is a janitor who gets caught up in a catastrophic industrial accident that mutates him into something new and dangerous, and also strangely heroic. Transformed into Toxie, he faces scorn and fear from the people around him, while trying to protect his young son Wade, his uneasy allies, and the neighborhood that raised him. As corporate powerbrokers tighten their grip and corruption creeps into every institution, Toxie uses brute force, uneasy humor, and unexpected intelligence to push back. The film follows his attempts to balance ferocity with tenderness, to prove he can be more than the monster everyone assumes he is, and to keep his family and friends safe without losing himself.
