About Witchy Precure!
Thirteen-year-old Mirai Asahina loves small adventures, and when a strange object falls from the sky she and her beloved stuffed bear Mofurun go to investigate. There they meet Liko, a cheerful young magician hunting for the Linkle Stone Emerald, and Kotoha, a shy classmate who hides a secret. When sinister minions of Dokuroxy show up, Mirai, Liko and Mofurun join hands and transform into the Pretty Cures, defenders who mix spellwork with school life. The girls enroll in Magic School to learn how to control their powers, juggle friendships and homework, and keep Dokuroxy’s forces at bay without revealing their identities.
Released in 2016, Witchy Precure! was created by Isao Murayama and features voices from Rie Takahashi, Yui Horie, Saori Hayami and Ayaka Saito. The series continues the Pretty Cure franchise format, blending original magical elements with established franchise beats.
Critics and fans rate it moderately, with a community score of 6.9/10 from a small sample. Reviews often praise the energetic voice performances and kid-friendly action, while noting the show sticks closely to genre conventions. Recurring themes include friendship, responsibility, teamwork and the challenge of balancing everyday school life with heroic duties, delivered with light humor and frequent magical set pieces.
As an entry in the long-running Pretty Cure lineup, Witchy Precure! leaned into witchcraft and magic school aesthetics, which appealed to younger viewers and collectors. It reinforced familiar franchise tropes like transformation sequences and character-themed accessories, keeping series traditions alive for a new generation of fans and supporting ongoing merchandise and event appearances.
No major industry awards are associated with the series, but it found a steady audience within the Pretty Cure fan community. Its colorful characters and blend of comedy and action have kept it visible in franchise retrospectives and fan discussions, especially among viewers who favor magical girl stories with school-based settings.
