A sudden pandemic wipes out most of humanity, and when vampires emerge from beneath the earth they reduce survivors to cattle. Young Yuichiro Hyakuya grows up in an orphanage under that cruel system, plotting escape with his closest friend Mikaela. The breakout leaves Yuichiro as the lone successful runaway, and he later joins the Moon Demon Company, a military unit tasked with exterminating vampires. The show follows his training and combat missions, the tense alliances between human factions, and his drive to protect those he still calls family without revealing major plot twists or endings.

Released as a 2015 anime adaptation, the series lists Hiroshi Seko in the main creative role and was animated by Wit Studio. The principal voice cast includes Miyu Irino, Kensho Ono, Yuichi Nakamura, Takahiro Sakurai, and Saori Hayami.
