About Unnamed Memory
Prince Oscar climbs a deadly tower hoping to win the Witch of the Azure Moon's magic to undo a cruel curse, one that kills any woman he marries. When he spots Tinasha, he changes his plan: convinced she's strong enough to survive the curse, he asks her to marry him instead. Tinasha reluctantly accepts a one-year stay in the royal castle so she can research the spell and search for a cure. The witch, meanwhile, keeps a youthful face that hides many past lives and dark deeds, and as Tinasha digs into the curse, fragments of that past begin to leak back into the present, straining alliances and raising urgent moral questions.
Released in 2024, Unnamed Memory was created by Deko Akao and Kuji Furumiya. The animated series leans on strong voice work from Yoshiki Nakajima and Atsumi Tanezaki and marries fantasy worldbuilding with serialized, character-focused episodes.
As of now the series hasn't received major industry awards or widely reported nominations. It has drawn notice on niche anime sites and among dedicated watchers for its ambitions and performances, but broader festival or awards recognition hasn't been documented.
Within fan communities the show prompted discussion about twisting familiar fairy tale roles and about how memory and accountability are handled in genre storytelling. Fans have circulated striking images from the tower ascent and palace scenes, and theory threads about the witch's many lifetimes grew quickly on social feeds and forums.
Audience reaction is mixed-to-positive, reflected in a 7.074/10 average from 47 votes. Reviewers and viewers often praise its exploration of memory, identity, consent, and the burden of past actions, along with the central chemistry between Oscar and Tinasha. Criticisms tend to focus on uneven pacing and questions left unexplained, which can frustrate viewers who prefer cleaner resolutions.
